Sales Invoices - Editing

Idea suggested by Heidi Anderson 7 years ago

Hi

At the moment our company offers training courses and a customer will pay a deposit which we then enter against the sales invoice and allocate it, we have to allocate it as it cannot sit as an unallocated amount. And then in the majority of instances the customer will want to change or add to their course which means changing the invoice and so I have to go through the process of deleting receipt against the sales invoice, editing the sales invoice and then re-entering the receipt and allocating it. It would be must easier if there was an option to simply unallocate the receipt so the invoice can be edited and allocated.

Thank you

Hi Heidi - is there a reason why you can't leave the payment in "Money>unallocated cash" until you are sure of the final invoice?

In similar cases I and most of my clients would leave the original invoice intact and issue an extra invoice or a credit note for changes the customer makes but then that doesn't suit everyone.

If you create the unallocated cash from the bank statement import, allocate it against the invoice then have to delete it from the invoice, the money reappears on the bank statement and so can be allocated against a revised invoice.

Unfortunately (and I didn't know this) if you have entered the deposit as Sales>Money in, thus creating "unallocated cash" when you come to delete it from the invoice this seems to delete the entire entry, rather than, as you say, put it back into unallocated cash.

To my mind this is a fault with CB, so would be worth sending in a ticket.
