Frustrated with Clearbooks

Problem reported by Steven Hagan 9 years ago

Hi, I'm a one man band business and I have been using clearbooks for 6 months now and on the whole I'm happy with it and like the simplicity it offers. I have some very infuriating issues with it though which Id like some support on, Also I want to move to a self managed subscription as I want control over my data rather than my accountant having that control.

  1. I seem to have a cut down version of clearbooks with no user management or permissions. I also can't see history of changes. I want more control over my data and want the ability to correct any data with the exception of filed accounts.
  2. I used to be able to edit voided transactions but now can't seem to view or edit them. This means there are 3 VAT return transactions that are now associated with voided payments and I'm unable to correct them. The VAT totals on the Dashboard are messed up
  3. I'm meant to have payroll for one person but its not enabled and consequently NI payments can't be entered correctly

Hi Steven - have you discussed this with your accountant?

From what you say, issues 1 & 3 could be related to the settings that your accountant has established before letting you into the software. The Voided transactions one is weird as, from what I can see in User permissions, this can't be turned off.

Just in case, to see them you have to actually click on "Reports" and they should appear under Exception reports, bottom right. You won't see them if you have the hover box turned on and just hover over the Reports tab.

Failing all of the above you should call support to discuss this.

Good Luck

Hi Paul, Thanks for getting back at this late hour. I want to change my subscription so I have full control of the permissions. I'm not happy with the permissions set up by my accountant and see a very cut down version of what I expect. Also, I'm not happy with going to my accountant to change how clearbooks is setup and want this control over my data. When I'm logged in and I select Reports there is no 'exception report' option. I will call to discuss tomorrow. Steve
