Testing ClearBooks

Hi
I have just created a free account to test ClearBooks and I am ready to give up immediately. I thought I would enter last years accounts but everytime I try to enter an invoice from last October (I started trading 1st October 2015) it takes me to settings and an accounting period. I tried changing the period but get no joy.
Shall I give up please? Or can you show me how to sort it? Thanks
