VAT Return/MTD Error

I'm trying to create my VAT Return for Q2 (Apr-Jun) and get the following error:

MTD for VAT: Unknown error

Please make sure the VAT number is correct.

The HMRC service may be down for maintenance, you can check the status here.

In all other cases, there is an error on HMRC's side. We are not receiving any further information from them which can help us identify what this error is. We advise speaking to HMRC to find out more information. If you are an agent, we recommend contacting the HMRC dedicated Agent support.

I have checked my company VAT details and these are correct. The only change I have made is to cancel my DD with HMRC (as covered by the Government COVID rules).

Is there a problem with MTD and if so how can I produce a Manual VAT Return so I can submit it to HMRC?

Hi Sharon,

This was due to a HMRC server issue that has since been resolved. I would advise trying again today. I hope this helps.
