Unallocated cash is really hard to keep track of
Problem reported by Lee Ottaway 2 weeks ago
Hello,
If a customer overpays an invoice/makes a deposit the money is held in Unallocated Cash. But this is very easy to forget because there's no clear indication that the customer has money which can be allocated to an invoice in the account. Why is the Unallocated Cash section right at the bottom of the account? We have to scroll past every single invoice the customer has ever had (>75 PgDn clicks for the 18 year customer I'm looking at currently).
Unallocated cash should be at the top of the account, surely? So, you see it as soon as you check an account. Then it will be just above the most recent outstanding invoice - which is likely to be what you will allocate it towards anyway.
As it stands it is really easy to think an invoice is unpaid and chase a customer for payment, just for them to tell you they paid it a month or so ago, and this leaves you looking unprofessional.
