Uploading Sales Line Items

Question asked by Gerry Skews 8 years ago

Hi, I created a csv file with the updated product list of about 400 products from my master database and uploaded it to clearbooks, however there are no products appearing now on the sales deck, does anyone have any idea why that might be. Im a little embarrassed as I seem to have wiped my entire product list.

Thanks for any guidance.

Gerry

Hi Gerry,

I'm sorry to hear that there have been problems with this. Would you mind sending us a copy of the CSV file you tried to import, in to us at contact support please? We can then investigate further for you.

Kind Regards,

Natasha

Hi Gerry - just as an aside to this and in case you didn't know. Before you do any major upload of data it's always a good idea to take a backup of the system (via Export menu) in that if data doesn't upload correctly, or you inadvertently overwrite existing data, you can return to the position before the upload.

Hi

Thanks for the feedback guys, I figured out that if the display SKU field is set to 1 then nothing on the sales deck displays, I kind of thought that related to displaying the part number (SKU) only but it appears not to be the case.

The tip about backup is well taken, normally I would do precisely that but was in a hurry and thought it a simple process to update the data. Lesson learned.

If there is a development track on this side of things, it would be handy to have a better product classification and search facility, as the product line items approach 500 SKUs it is progressively more time consuming to scan through the data set to find the product of interest. We are about to double the sales deck and push product out to multiple channels, I suppose Im getting towards a SAP type product requirement but not really ready to make that leap if I can avoid it. The other advantage would be to have one sales deck drive both the internal system and the various online channels that are planned.

Thanks again,

Gerry
