Recurring invoices - these are being numbered in advance of 'creation date'

I have tried setting up recurring invoices, for those clients who are invoiced a fixed amount each month. This should save time. However, the invoices are being numbered in advance of their 'creation date' which means that any other invoices are then numbered out of sequence. Invoice numbers a re supposed to be sequential in date order and this is messing this up. Am I doing something wrong here? Is it possible to create recurring invoices without invoice numbers already allocated?

Would you be able to provide an example of this and maybe some screenshots showing what you mean?

We use recurring invoices and certainly haven't experienced your issue. The invoices aren't created until the repeat date so i'm not quite sure what's going are.

You are using the recurring invoice tool aren't you?

Thank you for your comments, Kevin - I'm reassured that this isn't a blip in the system, and I must be doing something wrong. I'm going to raise a ticket as suggested by Richard in the next comment.
