Adding the PayPal 'Pay Now' button...

Question asked by Polly Glass 9 years ago

Hi there!

I'm trying to add the PayPal 'Pay Now' button to the bottom of our invoices, and can't seem to get it to work. We already have a PayPal bank account set up on the system and I've selected the option of having the button, but it doesn't seem to be showing up!

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Polly :~)

Hi Polly,

Kevin is correct, you can send the HTML version of the invoice instead and that will include the PayPal button. Apologies for the confusion, I was under the impression it had been removed from HTML invoices, but it's the statements it was deactivated on.

To change the invoice link in the email to the HTML version, head to Sales > Emails > Templates. Select the 'Invoice' heading and click in the body of the text. In the drop-down choose 'Invoice link'

file

Then, as Kevin says, change ::invoice_link::

file

To ::invoice_html_link:: and click save to update.

When you next email an invoice out, the invoice link will take the customer to the HTML version with the PayPal button included.

I hope that has been more helpful and apologies again for the confusion.

Hi Polly,

Unfortunately, you can only add a PayPal button to customer statements , at the moment.

If you head to Money > Bank accounts and click the edit icon:

On the next page, set 'Show payment button' to yes and click 'Save' to update.

When you next create an invoice and set 'PayPal' as the payment method, if you then emailed the statement link to the customer; the Paypal button will appear there next to any unpaid invoices:

I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful. If you have any further questions, please do get in touch.

All the best,

Natasha

Thanks for getting back to me Natasha. I'd managed to add it to our statements, but had also seen on a previous Clearbooks blogpost that it was possible to add it to the bottom of invoices.

It's a shame you don't offer this feature as it would be really helpful for us, and lots of other accounting softwares now have this. Is it something you're looking at adding?

Thanks,

Polly

Hi Polly

Are you viewing the PDF copy of the invoice or the HTML version?

I've just checked one of my overseas clients who pays by PayPal and there's a button showing on their HTML invoice:

When you email out, ensure you're using the ::invoice_html_link:: link not ::invoice_link:: as the latter will take them through to the PDF version.
