Why do journals sometimes show in unallocated cash?

Question asked by Kevin Doran 8 years ago

Is it a bug or am I missing something?

Here you go Paul, straight from the horse's mouth:

"This was a bit of an experimental feature with the entity field on journals to try and deal with VAT on unallocated payments when on VAT cash accounting. If you were to remove the entity on the journal this would no longer appear in the unallocated list.

The idea behind it was that if a journal was created (either Cr/Dr a bank account) and an entity was also selected then the journal would both appear on a VAT return as well as create a payment on account. The entity field on journals are just for reference, you can only see the entity when viewing the journal - we tried to make this field a bit more useful, however I will ask the development team to remove this feature"

Hi Mr D - They do if one of the lines is to a bank account and the other trade debtors or trade creditors

Nope, bank straight to P&L.

Using up-to-date parlance, rarely associated with people of my age,....OMG!

Looks like we got ourselves a defect (or in old fashioned parlance a bug).

I think i've mentioned it before come to think of it, not sure what came of it though.

Ticket time...

Thanks Kevin - I missed this post. I'll let you know when the feature is no more here.
