VAT from overseas purchases

Question asked by Nick Broadbent 8 years ago

I am currently entering accounts for my first VAT registered accounting period. What do I do with purchases that did not include VAT. e.g. Twitter is a US company that I buy a service from. See attached. Do I 0% or exclude? Or neither?

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick,

First, you will need to toggle on the Reverse charge and EC rates feature on the Toggle features menu under settings:

This should then allow you to explain the payment with a VAT treatment. You will probably need to confirm with your accountant, however, you would need to select services from supplier outside the EU and 0%:

Thank you for such a quick reply!!!
