Gocardless preauth £5000

Question asked by Russell Gannon 8 years ago

Hi,

I am trying to set up a preauth for a customer from an invoice but the amount is £5k. Rather than the invoice amount?

Hi Mike,

There is no longer an option to set a specific pre-auth limit, it defaults to £5000 now. There were numerous occasions where payments from pre-auths were being missed which then led to customers having to collect those missed payments by other means. Having such a high pre-auth limit should alleviate those issues. The email that gets sent to your customers only requests a pre-auth to be accepted/rejected with no mention of the pre-auth limit.

Hi Russell,

The pre-auth allows you to take payment up to £5000, unless you have an invoice(s) totalling this amount you won't be able to take this full amount. We increased the pre-auth limit and set it as a default to prevent situations where a payment from a pre-auth was missed for a recurred invoice (ie it's a bit more forgiving now than it previously was).

John. How can you set a pre-authorisation like you used to. I was to request for example £50 however there is nowhere to set the pre-authorisation amount.

Seemed far better before or am I missing something.

Mike.
