questions for beginners - manual bank reconcile, director's PAYE, P11Ds, VAT payments to HMRC, Data download for backup

Question asked by Lisa Beech 8 years ago

Hi

I’m almost there on going with Clear Books, I just have a few questions I’m hoping you can answer please:

  1. Can I do manual bank reconciles?
  2. What are your PAYE functions? Our company is just 2 directors and no employees, can that be set up in Clear Books?
  3. Can I do things like P11D’s?
  4. Can I submit our VAT directly to HMRC?
  5. Can I download data/files as a backup to our own system?

I think that’s it at the moment, I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Lisa,

1 Yes, you can indeed do manual bank reconciliation -

https://www.clearbooks.co.uk/support/guides/reconciliation/manually-reconcile-bank-account/

2 We have a separate Payroll module which will help you calculate pay each month and import into accounts (as well as submit to HMRC). There should be a Payroll link at the top of the menu. If you use other software to run payroll you can just create the wages as new bills for each employee and payments for PAYE and NICs as a bill to HMRC.

3 P11D's are possible - however you cannot currently submit these directly to HMRC (the report can be downloaded)

4 Yes, VAT can be submitted directly to HMRC via Clear Books - you have to make sure to set CB as the agent in the Government Gateway

5 You can export most data as reports in CSV file format from the Tools>Export menu, you can also export an encrypted backup of your account (which can only be read by restoring into Clear Books) on the Tools>Export>Backup menu

Hope that helps!

That's great, thanks for the quick response. I'll try to set this up this week then.
