INV 39 - HMRC refund from 31 Oct 2015

Question asked by Katie Hassall 7 years ago

Hi,

I've just called to get assistance with deleting INV 39 which was a HMRC refund for 31 Oct 2015.

The Accountant automatically loads an invoice whenever an HMRC refund is due, but the previous administrator did not reconcile the incoming payment (which was paid into the account via a cheque in Jan 16). Instead she manually reconciled it.

I was given instruction to unlock that accounting period to enable me to delete the now unnecessary invoice and I have done that but the amount is still showing as outstanding against HMRC on the dashboard? When I click on the amount it doesn't show on the summary page for outstanding invoices?

Please can you assist.

Hi Katie,

Apologies for the confusion earlier.

I have taken another look at your account. Removing the invoice was correct as the last user had created a REC (REC000018) for this payment. However, the account code used was incorrect (other income) which should actually have been VAT control. Therefore, you will have to go back and edit this REC. After this, it should remove the discrepancy, but there is another 10.51 difference which you should locate and correct.

I hope you found this helpful!

Thanks,

Tommy

There is no VAT control option only VAT payable, should I use that?

Where is the £10.51 showing or will I not see that until I've made the other amends?

I've corrected it to VAT Payable if this is not correct let me know.

The amount has now disappeared from the dashboard but I can't see the £10.51 you refer to?

Hi Katie,

No, it would have to VAT control, you would have to go into Settings > Account Codes > Tick Show in Sales for VAT control. After this is done, you will then be able to select it as the account code. The £10.51 will then show up on the dashboard and it's best that your accountant corrects this difference.

Thanks,

Tommy

Updated to VAT control and still can't see the £10.51?

Hi Katie,

If you click on the VAT figure on the dashboard, it will show you the transactions report where there is a 10.67 debit balance.
