Bad Debt Write off for VAT

I have waited the 6 months after an unpaid invoice to write it off and claim the VAT back. Its a May invoice and my VAT quarter has just ended 30.11.2017.

I have written the invoice off through the Clearbooks relevant Tab but when I run the VAT return for the latest quarter there is no recovery.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Peter - the 6 month time limit runs from due date, not invoice date.
