Splitting 1 payment of money out into various transactions

Question asked by David Faulkner 7 years ago

Hi I saw the information at the this link below but wanted to check it was the best way to progress for me.

https://www.clearbooks.co.uk/support/guides/money-2/bank-import-tool/how-to-explain-a-bank-transaction-made-up-of-multiple-payments/

I am currently doing my monthly Reconcile. I have a transaction of £241 in expenses (made up of £205 for Travel & Subsistence and £36 for Heat & Lighting) which I paid out in a single amount but now that I'm reconciling my AC with Clearbooks I want to code those 2 as separate amounts.

Should I reconcile the lump sum of £250 and complete my Reconcile and then, subsequently, follow the information in the link above or is there a way to split the £250 at the point of inputting the transaction during the Reconcile?

Thanks, David

Hi David,

It would be possible to split the payment. Once you have clicked Money Out with the amount of £241. On the Bank Explain page, you will be able to explain the first £205 to Subsistence where the system will then prompt you to explain the remainder £36. Please see the example below:

Thanks - that's an elegantly simple answer and process. Dave

No problem at all - have a great day!
