Product Search

Question asked by Glynis Skews 4 years ago

Hi Group,

As we have just passed the 500 product mark and expect to head swiftly to the 1000 product sales deck how do I find products quickly, we have introduced a part numbering system but I still cant figure out how to find the products that need to be edited and updated?

I cant find any refernce in the online documentation or on group postings?

We are a bit stuck so any help would be really appreciated.

Hi Glynis,

If you click under stock, results per page > All. You can then search your database via your browsers CTRL + F feature.

All the best,

Mohamed.

Hi Glynis,

I am not quite sure I follow. You say that you are trying to find products to be edited. I'm guessing this is under the stock feature. You can find them under Tools > Stockm and can edit there. Please let me know if I have not fully understood.

All the best,

Mohamed.

Hi Mohamed,

Sorry if I didnt make it clear.

In order to change the price and description on a product that is already active, it is necessary to find it in the database. So Ideally and within the convention of normal databasing one would have a search box and type in (for example) "Mackerel" this would return a list of all products with "Mackerel" in the title or description, the offending item would then be selected and edited.

At the moment it looks like I have to step through page after page after page of product listings to find the item in question, which could be listed as Smoked Mackerel, Plain Makerel, Peppered Mackerel, Mackerel with Beetroot and Horseradish etc etc..

Obviously I must be missing something, I was just trying to find out how to run a simple search query to find one product in database of hundreds..

Even Excel has a "Find" function..

Thanks for helping

Gerry
