Creating an invoice item with more than 1 item per item, :)

Question asked by Steve Coom 1 year ago

Hi

I am lazy ......

I provide a welcome pack of goodies to holiday cottages , this is comprised of 2 charges

  1. the value of the goods (fixed price)
  2. my charge for managing and delivering the goods

I want to have 1 item to add to an invoice that consists of

Goods Charge £10 NO VAT = £10 - i understand this is a disbursement - i just pass on the cost of the goods to the client

Delivery Charge £5 + VAT £1 = Total £6 Total £16 (with £1 being VAT)

Is it possible to have a enter a group of items that shows this breakdown in one drop down item (in the invoice item drop down) or do i have to enter the 2 lines separately? Ideas ?

Thanks

Hi Steve,

I am afraid this doesn't sound like it is possible. I suppose you might be able to do this by creating a stock item that is made up that net price with a manual VAT rate, but I am not certain if this is allowed from a VAT perspective. I would suggest speaking to an accountant first to verify that before going ahead with this.

All the best,

Mohamed.

Hi Mohamed,

You are correct - the VAT would be out - HMRC would assume 20% on the whole amount . It needs to be seperate Item lines - I was hoping for some sort of "Item block" idea that could drop 2 items in to an invoice in one go :)

Thanks for the swift response - but it looks like i will have to stop being lazy !

Steve

Hi Steve,

No problem. Glad I could help!

All the best,

Mohamed.
