Deleting old suppliers and customers' accounts

Is it possible (or desirable) to delete old supplier or customer accounts so the don't appear in name searches?
Hi Rob,
Yes, if you head to Contacts > Customers > Click on the Customer name, you can delete the contact if there has been no previous transactions posted to this contact. Otherwise, you must click Archive.
