MTD Set up issue

Question asked by NC Bookkeeping and Payroll services 23 hours ago

I am having issues setting up MTD. I have successfully added my clients details and hmrc access has been granted. I noticed a message at the top of the screen to say mtd sign up has been successful. However there is an orange box at the bottom of the screen which states:

Clear Books cannot access your MTD for Income Tax information

Please advise on the next course of action

Hi,

This error can only be caused by one of the following issues. Please verify each of the points below:

  1. Double check NINO is correct
  2. Check your ASA has that client authority to act on their behalf for self assessment
  3. Check Gov gateway ID used to authorise Clear Books is the same as the one used to log into ASA

Hi,

In this case, you must submit a support ticket, when logged in, please click the ? icon at the top right and Send Us a Message.

You will need to send us screenshots of gov gateway ID, NI number in HMRC web page after logging in with that ID, the MTD for Income tax income sources in the HMRC web page after logging in with that ID, the authorisation process page by page showing the gov gateway ID and NI number entered.

These do not show up in the accounts?

Hi,

When logged into your ASA, you will be able to view the clients NINO. We will require a screenshot of the ID being entered into both ASA log in and Clear Books authorisation process, to ensure they match.

Finally, you should be able to see the client's MTD for Income Tax income sources (self employment and/or property) which confirms the client is signed up for MTD and the agent has authority to view and submit their MTD for IT information.

For data protection reasons, please send these screenshots via a support ticket.
