Hi

If you have confirmed your return, but not submitted to HMRC you can still delete the return by heading to Reports > VAT selecting the return from the drop down list, scrolling to the bottom and hitting the link within Only delete this VAT return if you have not yet submitted it to HMRC. Delete VAT Return’. Please note only the group owner of the Clear Books account can do this.

If you have confirmed the return and submitted to HMRC via their website, it is advised not to to delete the return for audit purposes.

If you have submitted the return via Clear Books and the return has been rejected by HMRC, please contact support as we will need to delete the return on your behalf so that you can re-submit.

All the best,

Hi has the instructions regarding the above changed now? Our group owner tried to do this and the option to delete the VAT return was not there. Thank you.

Hello Natasha,

So long as there is no blue HMRC confirmation box at the top of a selected return, you can still delete a confirmed VAT return.

There will be a link to the very bottom of a confirmed return. You will need to note that deleting a confirmed return which has been submitted in real life to HMRC directly will not be deleted, they will still have that record.

Please go into the relevant VAT return and see if it works.

Thank you we will try that, we did not actually submit the return through clearbooks as it was our first one and didn't calculate quite right so hence we need to delete it and do it again for record purposes.
