Clients not receiving recurring monthly emails

Hi, Many of my clients are not getting their recurring monthly emails that I set up for the 1st of each month, can you please provide a detailed instruction on how to set up a recurring invoice and how to know if the email address is set up, also on how to make that invoice automatically send out at the beginning of the month?
