Importing from Xero

Question asked by Ray Banham 10 years ago

Can I import my Xero accounts into Clearbooks ?

Hi Ray - just one point that may or may not effect you. If you, if you have Invoices (out) and Bills (in) to import they will come in as unpaid and so any you import that were paid in Xero (pre ClearBooks) will need you to go to each and "Quick Pay" or import bank entries and "explain" each as paying off the invoices & bills.

If there are many months, what a lot of people do is not bother to import all the transactions from the last system but import just unpaid invoices & bills and a trial balance (via journal import), which you export from Xero. This effectively is mimicking what the "Getting Started" routine does in "Settings"

Hi Ray,

Xero accounts can be imported into Clear Books so long as the file is imported as a CSV file.To do this navigate Tools>Import> overview and select desired import. If not, when importing it is best to create a CSV style document. Simply follow the steps in this guide:

http://www.clearbooks.co.uk/support/guides/import-settings-2/how-to-import-sales-invoices-2/

This is a specific example, but all other imports follow the same basic rules. Additionally, navigating Tools> Import>Overview followed by 'click here to download a sample' provides a preview to a template which can be edited with your own data.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

Many Thanks

Anan
