Trial balance report - order of accounts is strange

Question asked by Ros Northmore 10 years ago

Please can you lt me know why the order of the accounts on the trial balance report is not in account type order. It seems to be in some random order where some P&L accounts appear under some balance sheet accounts.

Thanks

Hi Ros,

The codes are ordered numerically and all those of a certain 'type' have similar numerical values. Any codes you add yourself may not follow the same rules, however, I am afraid that there is nothing we can do about customising the display of the report. That is simply the way that it appears.

Hi Ros,

Having had a look at a couple of different Trial balance reports it appears that it is arranged by account code in ascending numerical order by account code and as certain account types are grouped within certain ranges this is why the entities seem to be in a random order. If you go to Settings > Codes you will see the Account Types they are grouped by.

Many Thanks

Chris

I can 'sort of' see what you mean. The P&L nominal accounts which are appearing in the balance sheet area of the trial balance are all accounts that we have given a 4 digit code to, where all others have 3 digits (except for the system generated codes).

However they aren't in actual numerical order.

Would it be possible to have the trial balance order in Account type order as laid out in Settings-Codes, even if those 4 digit codes come at the bottom of their Account type list?
