Expenses question

Idea suggested by Julie Francesca Sarah D'Adamo 2 weeks ago

I am new to Clear Books. I have linked my bank account but the majority of my outgoings are nothing to do with my self employment, instead they are personal expenses. They have however all gone into my MTD for Income Tax next submission under "Total expenses".

Is there a way I can delete this option? What do people suggest I do in the future?

I have a spreadsheet that lists all my work expenses. If there is a way that I can upload this as my work expenses that would be much more preferred.

Hi Julie,

In this case, on the Dashboard, if you click on the Total Expenses figure. On the next page, you can then click on the document, click Edit and amend the account code to Drawings; this will exclude the transaction from the quarterly submission.

To fix this going forward, you must head to Settings > Import rules > Amend any rules where the contact is Personal Transactions and you should edit the account to Drawings. Also, if you do not want the system to auto explain transactions from the bank statement, you can disable this under Dashboard > Bank accounts > Click on the relevant bank > Click the Auto Explain tab > Untick Always run for this bank account > Save.

Thank you Tommy. Is there a way to bulk exclude the transactions from the quarterly submission? I dont want any of them there.

Also can I do this via bulk??

Amend any rules where the contact is Personal Transactions and you should edit the account to Drawings.

I basically don't want any of this bank account feed on my quarterly submission because nothing is relevant. I want to remove my bank account.

Hi Julie,

In this case, you can undo the whole imported statement. To do so, you must head to Dashboard > Bank accounts > Archived Accounts > Unarchive the bank account.

Once completed, you can then click on All Unexplained Statements > Click on the All tab > Then click x to explain beside the statement > Then click Undo All. Please note: this will undo all the transactions in the statement. You can then head back to the All Unexplained Statements page and delete the whole statement import if you do not require this.
