Import rule search term > 50 chars

I also have this.

I have DIRECT DEBIT from INTERNET PROVIDER reference THINGY1 and DIRECT DEBIT from INTERNET PROVIDER reference THINGY2

and need separate accounting codes for both...

Could you just create a rules using THINGY1 and THINGY2?

Just did it in the demo account with a dummy csv and it worked fine.

I have now used that approach, but it wasn't obvious to me that the rule search text is a full wild card search, and obviously not others as well.

I'd suggest that having a such an artificial limit is not good, especially with the lack of prompt or documentation to explain how rules can work is not ideal.

The support team are looking at making more comprehensive guides on the import rules.

The best option I recommend is to look for a common reference in the bank imports.

For example, an O2 phone bill have your bill reference of "6789ABC" then extra details. So it may look like this overall " Call ref BILLTOSEPT30 6789ABC".

The search term which you will use is the 6789ABC to enable good use of the mass update tool. The part before it will always be changing month on month but the common area is the part at the end.

This will need to be done for the other import rules you have on the system.

There is a character lock on the system because it can cause issues with the mass updates if there are too many variables/characters to search for in a specific order. Extending this limit may cause the page to load slowly.
