Simply to show who raised a Purchase Order, so when the invoice comes is we know who to give it to get it approved. At the moment it's guesswork. I have asked people to put their name in the Summary Box, but they forget as often as not.

Me too, an approval process for purchase orders would be an even better idea
This has been implemented as part of the purchase order approval changes here. The user that created the purchase order is visible on the purchase orders list and when viewing an individual order.
