Adding a new Clear Books business to your account or practice is now simpler, with Companies House lookup for limited companies.

Companies House lookup

When you set up a limited company, we now look it up on Companies House for you. If the business name includes "Ltd" or "Limited", Limited company is selected automatically.

The top match is shown in the Companies House profile, and its accounting reference date is used to fill in your accounting period. The company number, incorporation date and registered address are saved to the business when you click Save.

If it's not the right company, click "Change selected company" to search by name or company number.

VAT details

If the business is VAT registered, choose the VAT scheme and enter the VAT registration date. The VAT number is optional.

Note: To keep setup quick, bank accounts are no longer added on this page. Once the business has been created, you can add one manually, or set up a bank feed and bank accounts will be created for you.
