There are no shareholders with any shares for the date on which this dividend is to be paid.

Problem reported by John Saxton 10 years ago

Tried new dividend tool. Need to record a previous dividend in clearbooks. I added shares to myself, then tried to create the dividend. However, I'm only recorded as having the shares from today & can see no obvious way to edit this. Trying to create the dividend shows the error above.

Agreed, just tried it in the demo. Even tried to buy them back and reissue but that doesn't work either.

Needs amending...

Hi Guys

Sorry about this - this particular issue is in the process of being fixed. I will update you as soon as complete.

Hi John

To add to this further - it doesn't seem as though a dividend can be edited once approved either?

Hi, is there an update on this?

Sorry about this John - I have chased this up with the technical team, they are currently working on the fix which should be updated this week.

Hi John, is this going to be fixed in the next day or two? I need to import my bank details to explain and this won't work well without the corresponding dividend recorded in clear books. If it won't be fixed what is the best workaround? I need to do this import in the next few days so my accountant can prepare the quarter.

Thanks

John.

Hi John,

I am sorry that this has not yet been resolved. It is a main priority for our technical team and they hope to have it resolved for you very soon. I am afraid at this point I am unable to give any estimates.

Once again, I am sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you and we will update you just as soon as it has been completed.

Chris

Hi John

Go to Settings > Codes, scroll to the bottom and make sure 'show in purchases' is ticked next to Dividends.

Then, when importing just analyse it as a dividend payment as follows:

You won't get the divi paperwork but the accounting treatment will be correct.

Hi John,

If you would like to give me (possibly via email if you prefer) the details of the changes you would like to make, I can ask a colleague in the technical team to have a look for you and do it manually if you prefer?

Chris

Hi Chris,

I'd like a dividend added on the 11th of May for £10,000. Thanks.

Thanks Kevin,

I'll see if Chris is able to amend, else I'll use your suggestion.

Hi John, I'll pass those details straight over for you and see what we can do.

Hi John,

We've added the dividend, and also moved back the shares issued date to so you should be able to add past dividends yourself now.

Hope it helps, Chris

Hi Chris,

That appeared to have fixed it, but I can now see a deposit in the directors account of £100 for "share capital jnl" which doesn't appear correct. Can you please check?

Hi John,

As far as we can see, the appearance of this journal was not caused by the creation of the above dividend. It would appear that this was created by your accountant as they too have access to your account.

I hope that this clears things up.

Chris
