Hi Kevin,

Thanks for bringing that to our attention. I have raised it with the Dev team to amend that amount on the EPS form and in Employer > details. I will post an update, once they confirm that has been changed.

All the best,

Natasha

Hi Kevin & Natash

This may be stupid question but how do you file an EPS without confirming that you are eligible for the Employment Allowance?

Ta

Hi Paul,

If the box you check in the Employer > Details section is blank, the EPS will state "No employment allowance", if it is selected then the EPS will have "Employment allowance please". You can still file the EPS if you're declaring recovery amounts and periods of inactivity etc, regardless. You would just update what you needed and click 'Send to HMRC' to submit.

All the best,

Natasha

I wonder how many 'normal' users who are sole directors will still claim it.

Is there a fail safe or any kind of warning for that scenario?

Hi - yes Kevin that's why I needed to switch it off in mine, I did think of bringing the dog in as an employee in order to get the £3K but I can't find her NI Number!

Thanks Natasha, obvious when you know. Can you add the Employer>Details page to the fix please as that also still shows the £2K rather than £3K.

Kevin makes a good point, there's every possibility sole directors (or even trout ones) either won't realise they have to switch this off or won't know about the new rule at all. Maybe someone can add a comment to the blog or next Top 10?

Hi Paul & Kevin,

I have already added the Employer Details page to the task, so that will be looked at together with the EPS text as well.

I think a blog post about the change is a good idea. I will speak to the team tomorrow about that and also discuss the possibility of perhaps adding a warning message when submitting the EPS as well. I will post an update here to let you know the outcome.

Have a good evening :-)

All the best,

Natasha
