Clear books runs so slowly

Clear books runs so slowly posting transactions is painful

Good Morning Kay,

At what point in the transaction posting process are you finding that is running slow?

I can confirm that our servers have been running consistently over the last month. We post a live update of our service status on the link below for reference. https://status.clearbooks.co.uk/

If you are finding that your system is running slow, this is often caused by network issues. I would recommend speaking with your IT team first (If applicable) and/or your Internet service provider.

I hope this helps, Theo

Theo, I also find the program runs slowly at busy times, we are on a BT fibre connection and find the response time is frustrating, making data inputting very slow. We are a rural enterprise rather than city boys, so we expect slow internet speeds. The idea that all of the processing is done remotely seems to be the root of the problem, would it be possible for Clear Books to allow users on limited band width, to process the data locally, contacting your server only occasionally to update it. This would speed up the data input process and take loading off the public network and your servers. Thanks

Hi Stuart,

Unfortunately, although this would be beneficial in these circumstances this is not something that I can imagine would be developed in the near to medium future. Although we do have clients in more rural areas the number at this present time would not warrant the level of resource allocation needed to make this a reality.

Large amounts of contacts and transaction data are the most common cause of increased system slow down. Would this be applicable in your case?

Theo, It is in the area you mention that we are experiencing the greatest issue with speed. We are new users, just getting to know the system, making mistakes and having to rectify them. The slow response time of the program makes this process very time consuming, so much so that we are questioning our commitment to Clear Books in future. I do believe that it would be a worthwhile allocation of resources on behalf of Clear Books to democratise the system allowing tasks to be processed locally. This would benefit not only the rural users, but everyone using the system. You know as well as I, that as your subscriber numbers increase, speed through the system will become an ever increasing issue for users. Quick Books does not have an option here, it must either allocate more bandwidth and server space, or allow local processing of data, the latter being the most cost effective. It would be prudent to act now before the issue affects more than just those of us in 'the sticks'. It's a great system, don't let it become a victim of it's own success. Regards
