Duplicate transactions from bank account feed

Problem reported by Lisa Weekes 7 months ago

Hello,

I have just started getting transactions to explain from my recently linked bank account (Cooperative Business online account). It looks like the transactions are being duplicated.

I found a post from 6 months ago which talked about an issue specifically with the Coop account feed. This was due to be fixed in Q4 2025, apparently. However, it appears the same issue still exists? Please could you confirm if this is the case and whether I can delete the duplicates. They are dated on consecutive days and the descriptions are slightly different, but the amounts are the same.

Thanks for your help with this!

Hello,

It's Lisa who asked the duplicate transaction question 6 months ago.

Yes, Coop had a problem with a software update over 2 weeks ago and sent an email confirming that although normal bank transactions can now be seen in the online business accounts, there are still problems with third-party supplier connections. Here's what they said.......I'm going to call them in a few days if it still isn't sorted out!

"We have resolved the issue affecting core payment and transaction processing. Customers can continue to make and receive payments as normal, and balances shown across our digital banking services should be accurate.

We are continuing to address a small number of related issues following the upgrade. This includes cases where some historic transaction information may not yet be visible in our digital channels, and where some accountancy software packages and other third-party services connected to accounts through Open Banking may not be displaying all transaction information."

I am having exactly the same issue and feel your pain. As if MTD isn't hard enough already!!!

Thanks, yes have just done this and all is working again.

Hi all,

Co-operative has informed our provider that they have resolved the re-authentication issue. In this case, you can head to Dashboard > Bank accounts > Manage bank feeds > Delete the Co-op Bank Feed > Then re-add this.

Once added, the new feed should use the import date of the last import date. You may need to check for duplicates on that date, as the import will start from the beginning of that day.

Please do let us know if there are any further issues?

Tommy

Am thinking of moving from Coop!

Hi Lisa,

Thank you so much for taking the time to contact your bank and for sharing their response with the community. We really appreciate you providing this update and helping bring some clarity to the situation!

Tommy

It looks like Co-op cannot be linked now - is this true?

Hi Eliza,

This issue appears to affect all Co-operative Bank customers rather than being specific to a software. The same issue was reported by a Sage user.

Tommy

Hi -

Just spoke to co-op and this is not a priority which makes me think that Clear Books is not the right software to be subscribing to if you bank with Co-op!

It is time consuming to manually check all entries

Hi Eliza,

Unfortunately, this is a known issue on Co-op's side. They have acknowledged the root cause, which involves transaction dates and descriptions changing between business days, and are actively working on a fix.

Tommy

Me too - looks like I will need to change to software that is compatible with co-op as this is causing me headaches...

Hello Tommy,

Thank you for confirming that duplicates need to be manually deleted. As Adam says, it is a pain!

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Coop had previously implemented a fix that resolved the issue; however, it appears the problem has since resurfaced. This has been re-escalated with them. In the meantime, you will need to manually delete the duplicates.
