MTD Set UP

Problem reported by Brian Raymond 1 week ago

Hello,

Yesterday I put my national insurance in and followed the other instructions for connection to HMRC. The HMRC access had been granted, however I had a separate message saying Clearbooks cannot access my MTD - but also a message saying HMRC are experiencing high load and to try refreshing.

Today I have logged back in and I still have the same messages.

Thank you

Hi Brian,

I can see that you’re now successfully connected. To help others in the community, could you confirm whether it was entering your National Insurance number or completing the sign-up process that allowed the connection to HMRC to be successful?

Tommy

Hi Brian,

Authorisation and MTD sign-up are two separate processes: authorisation gives Clear Books access to your HMRC Self Assessment information, while MTD sign-up moves you from the old tax returns to new MTD quarterly updates and tax return.

In this case, you must log into HMRC to check that you can see quarterly update obligations. If you can, you must submit a screenshot of this via the ? icon > Send us a Message. If you cannot see your quarterly obligation, then you will need to sign up to MTD via HMRC.

Tommy

Yes, my national insurance number is correct. Yes, I am signed up to MTD as this has been authorised... see first message.

Hi Brian,

In this case, you must check you are signed up to MTD via HMRC, and double check your National Insurance number is correct.
