uploading data from Quickbooks Desktop Pro

Question asked by Sali Hallsworth 10 years ago

The last comment on this I could find was a year ago?

I was trying to move from QB Desktop to QB Online (due to high price increases) however the QB setup (continuously requesting a class to be entered, which I did on 910 bills...) means that I cannot currently convert to Online Essentials but have to use Online Plus (£10 more a month plus VAT). I'm considering moving to ClearBooks

Is there a guide please on moving data across? I have one employee, around 10 customers and 100 jobs, 10 years worth of bank data etc I could find a short guide on customer data - however surely there must be others who have been in this situation?

thanks Sali

Hi Sali

CB has an import feature (in Tools) enabling you to import practically anything (in CSV format).

I have to say though that it's unusual to import year's worth of data. Most people just import the current year's transactions, plus a Trial Balance from the previous year, to help with comparisons. When I have converted clients from QB or other systems, I just keep backups of the old data and export key reports to Excel. In fact I still have QB 2008 loaded in case I have to open old data.
