Phantom bank balance

One of my GBP bank accounts correctly shows an actual zero balance in all areas of the account, except in the Balance Sheet Report, which shows a small negative balance for the exact same bank account. How is this possible? As I'm working multi currency and EUR is my reporting currency, I created a Contra bank account to attempt to adjust the error. However, while this did enable me to adjust the bank account error in the Balance Sheet, I then ended up with an incorrect bank balance everywhere else in the account. Any clues would be much appreciated.
