Credit Card payment

Question asked by Kate Barron 8 years ago

Hi There, Thanks very much for your help so far. My credit card balance is pain monthly from my business bank account, and I understand that i need to perform a transfer between the credit card account and the bank account on Clearbooks to show this. My question is, when the transactions are pulled through from my bank and updated, what do i do with the actual transaction of my credit card payment being made from my bank account if i have already performed the transfer between accounts? Do i leave it 'unexplained?' The same question applies to a loan. I've set up a Loan account, and the monthly payment is taken out of the business bank account, so i have set up a monthly transfer. How do i account for the transaction out of my bank account when the transactions are pulled through if i've already 'done' the transfer in clear book? Thank you very much

Hi Kate - when you have a number of accounts all transferring into/out of the current account it's usually best to treat the current account as the source, in other words action the transfers from the current account upload and not the credit card, loan or savings accounts.

Then, when you upload the statements from the other accounts you just mark the same transfers as deleted. this doesn't actually delete them but stops the system thinking they need explaining.
