Better communication with accountant through Clearbooks

Question asked by Philip Reiser 7 years ago

I'd like to be able to communicate with my accountant better through Clearbooks. For instance, I'd like to flag a transaction that may be incorrectly categorised .

At the simplest level, this is the ability to add a note to a transaction.

On a more sophisticated level, there could be a conversation around a specific transaction or report. See for instance Google Docs (A collaborative version of Word) which allows a bit of text to be highlighted and discussed with collaborators.

It is old school to have to take everything to email.

My apologies in advance if such features already exist and I haven't found them yet!

Hi Philip,

Currently, it is not possible to communicate this kind of information between clients & accountants through ClearBooks. We greatly value your feedback and I have forwarded your suggestions on to our development team, to be reviewed.

Thanks, Theo

Thanks for your reply, Kevin. I think it's more than bank import/reconciliation. What if a report total looks wrong? It would be very practical to attach a note for the accountant to address. If the issue is resolved it can be ticked off and the note goes away.

Yeah I agree completely.

We also used to have an internal chat function between client & accountant (and also CB support) but that was switched off a while back.

Just to second what Kevin says, I was in favour of this when it was first raised (when I was a teenager I think) and in particular the client/accountant chat that appeared at the foot of the page.

The problem with the chat was that it only worked when both were online but having an email message generated between client/accountant, would be great.

PS: @Theo regarding the "Best answer" label, in cases like this it might be an idea to have an "Only answer" label?
