Payment by installments

We are moving to Go-cardless and starting to use invoices generated by Clear Books rather than just cash accounting to post to the ledger. Is it possible to set up an invoice with periodic payments due (say one a month for 12 months)?

I know that I can set up a series of periodic invoices but I would prefer one invoice with multiple payment dates, which then generated direct debit cash requests.

You can of course create an invoice and pay it off gradually but if you want the system to do anything 'clever/automatic' then i'm afraid the answer is no.
