Stock Item Amendments

Is it possible to delete a Stock Item if it has a transaction against it i.e. a Quote or Invoice or can you only delete them if there are no tranactions?

I have just tested this out and it would be possible to delete a stock item regardless if it has been included on an invoice/ transaction.
