VAT submissions but EUR default currency

Hi Our company was set up with EUR as the default reporting currency. Although the company is a UK company, its main trade is on the continent and the directors preferred to have Europe as the base currency. When submitting VAT this was a challenge though a workaround solution exists with manual submissions to HMRC after converting the currency on an excel. Come MTD and that will not work any more as submissions must be made directly form the software. Can you suggest the best way forward?
