How do I authorise you as an agent to submit on my behalf for VAT?

You can complete the set up for MTD by following the following guide. With regards to generating the report. You should have the report dates including into Clear Books automatically upon completion of the sign up.

Hi there!
You will be able to authorise us by heading to Tax > VAT > MTD Onboarding > Click on Step 5 > Click Authorise, which will take you to HMRC's website.

Have I understood this correctly, in that this new process submits the VAT return directly to HMRC directly, as opposed to the previous process where I'd input your VAT figures into the HMRC website manually?

Yes, this would be the new Making Tax Digital legislation, where you must use a compliant software which is able to connect with HMRC's API.
