change VAT rate on old invoice

Question asked by James Dawson 5 years ago

I've accidentally entered an incorrect VAT rate for an invoice. Invoice has been issued and paid already but it should be VAT exempt but I've put it through as standard 20% VAT. Is there any way I can edit this at this stage?

Many thanks,

Hi James,

Ah yes, REC's are receipts that are created directly from a bank statement and therefore does not have an unpaid status. You are correct, you must void this and recreate this with the correct details.

Hi James,

Unfortunately not, you must delete the payment allocation first in order to edit the invoice.

OK,

It won't let me de-allocate payment, I'm guessing due to it being marked as "REC" .

So will I have to void this invoice and then raise another one with correct VAT code and allocate payment again to it?

Thanks
