Material purchases not showing on profit/loss report

Just started using clearbooks recently and have noticed that all the bills for materials are not showing on profit/loss reports.
I have a few main suppliers that I use for purchasing materials and I have been entering the purchases in by creating Bills for every Invoice I've received from supplier. I'll then mark these as "Materials" under "Cost of Sales". I've imported a few bank statements and allocated the multiple bills one by one to a payment I make each month to the supplier.
But for some reason the profit/loss reports are not showing any sign of these under Materials so it's saying I'm making a lot more profit then I really am. I'm surely doing something wrong but can't figure out what.
Any help would be great!
