Late to MTD - please help!

Question asked by Greg Harewood 2 years ago

Hi

I'm now 6 months late to MTD, I kept putting it off and filed the Jan-Mar quarter by hand.... so yeah.

Anyway.... forgetting that I still had to switch, I finalised July-Sept on the old system. Then tried to switch. So what I have is two returns listed:

  • July-Sept in old system, with correct figures, that I can't submit
  • July-Sept in MTD, all zeroes, that I probably could submit, but that would be bad
  • No way to submit by hand any more

I HAVE submitted on MTD correctly, the April-June quarter, because I had accidentally failed to finalize that on the old system.

What do I do? No way to submit correct figures for July-Sept

Thanks! Greg

Hi Greg,

In this case, you must head to Tax > VAT > VAT return > Click Details beside the Sept return without the MTD tag, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Delete. Once deleted, you should then be able to submit the Sept MTD return.

Thank you! And then just void the relevant (earlier) duplicate HMRC purchase, right? Thank you!

No problem Greg! And yes, you must void the duplicate HMRC bill.
