Project code in asset register

Question asked by Sue Reekie 3 years ago

Hi

Is there any way I can add a project code as well as the depreciation code to an asset in the Asset Register?

Thanks

For a few years now, fixed assets have supported project-level tracking, with these details automatically reflected in the depreciation journals generated.

Hi Sue,

Can I ask you to elaborate what you mean by project code?

All the best,

Mohamed.

Under tools, projects you can set up codes which I use instead of a "cost centre" for analysing costs within an account code. I'd like to be able to split the depreciation code in P&L over several project codes but there doesn't appear to be the option to add a project code when setting the depreciation code in the asset register.

Hi Sue,

You can place this against the bill for the fixed asset purchase, but not the asset register I am afraid.

All the best,

Mohamed.

Hi Pete

Thank you for the post. Please will you tell me how I can attach a project code to depreciation.

Thank you

Sue

Hi Sue.

When you edit a fixed asset, you can set the project to be used for depreciation journals generated for that asset.

Note: This will retrospectively apply that project to historical depreciation journals for that asset, as well as for new depreciation journals generated in the future.
