Tax refund

My employer had been on BR tax for 3 weeks whilst awaiting p45. Switch has been made and tax code updated for new salary but this week's pay is showing that I need to pay a tax refund in this week's wage. Is this correct and will I recieved anything back from HMRC once submitted?
