Are Import rules available on the free plan?

Question asked by Somyong Khamkhotsun 4 months ago

Hello,

I am setting up for MTD (Sole trader), testing the waters with the free plan first.

I have imported all transactions from last April. For a few transactions, first explained manually, the system created an import rule and then the Auto explain feature was able to recognise all the following relevant transactions.

However, this only worked on a very small subset of transaction types. All the other had to be explained by hand. I have no way to "create a new import rule", the system seems to decide by itself when it does or not. I also have no access to the current import rule list (to modify or add to it). The only clue I had that some import rules are created and applied is if I "unexplain" an auto explained transaction, then the form will display a message saying "auto-explained with rule xxx" and a small "edit rule" icon next to it allows me to modify this specific rule only.

I understand that the free plan will not have all the features of a full paid subscription, but I am confused by the lack of access to the settings of a feature, while this feature still seems active on the current plan (but in the background).

Is this an intended limitation/feature of the free plan (no access to import rules settings), or is this just an UI oversight ? (all the support documentation I can find about this feature are clear enough, but they require accessing menus which are not available/displayed on my account).

Hi Somyong,

Yes, this is intentional. In order to use the full functionality of the import rules feature, you will need a paid plan.
