my opening balance is very different to my actual balance on my bank statement- how do I adjust?

My bank balance when I want my accounts to run from is very different to the opening statement on clearbooks. How do I adjust it?

On the bank receipt at the start of my using clearbooks on screen for the 5th April 2024, it shows a figure of over £6K. This is nothing like my bank statements figure.

How can I change it to the bank statement figure please?

Hi Sue,

You can change the opening bank balance under Settings > Opening balances.

Many thanks Tommy. I am still finding that the figures don't balance between the bank account and the bank feed. How do I find what is going wrong please?

Hi Sue,

In this case, you will need to do a bank reconciliation. You must head to Dashboard > Click Bank accounts > Click on the Clear Books balance balance > Amend the From date to your start date. Then, you must compare this to your actual bank balance to identify any duplicates or missing transactions.
