I am new to MTD and tried it out a couple of months ago in order to prepare myself for the new tax year. I am ready to start properly however the opening bank balance is completely wring. I cant change it no matter what i do. Please can you help. I have unlinked my bank account in order to input manually but this hasnt helped. All google searches and Chat GBT searches say i can manually change the balance but I simply cant.
Hi Tanja,
You can change your opening balances by clicking Settings > Opening balances > Click on the bank balance > Amend the Opening Balance on the next page.

Best answerThank you for your answer as I'm tearing my hair out with this! However there is no Ammend option for me. When I click on Opening Balances and update it to the balance in my account on the 6TH April - my new accounting period - it changes it - but then when I go to Dashboard its added that new amount to the old amount so now its even higher. I literally just want to start from scratch again. All the info recorded for last tax year was just me familiarizing myself with it. Surely there is a reset button? I thought as the new accounting period started i would be able to start afresh. Its taken so much of my time I'm getting so frustrated and disheartened.

You can reset your business by hovering your Building Icon (top right) > Settings > Reset business. You can also contact us by clicking ? at the top right when logged in.
