MTD Error: Periods of Account information is required for all Self Employments. Please submit.

Question asked by Geert Rigters 4 months ago

When trying to finalise my MTD submission, I get the following error: Periods of Account information is required for all Self Employments. Please submit. But in my business settings, there is a period of accounts for 6 April 25 until 5 April 26.

Any advise?

Hi Geert,

To resolve this, you must head to your MTD Tax Return dashboard > Click on the Self Employment figure > Then scroll down and click Add for the Periods of Account > Add your period.

Hi Robert,

HMRC have got back to us and has informed us that they can see you have two self employment income sources but have only sent quarterly updates for one and hence only one shows on the calculation.

In this case, if one of them was set up in error, so you should log into your online HMRC account to close it down. If you actually do have two self employment income sources, you will need to submit Q4 update for the second one and then it should appear on your tax calculation and allow you to set the period of account and then finalise.

We can see the income source "Robert Frater" has quarterly updates. The second income source "MR R J Frater" is the one that is causing the period of account error and has no quarterly updates. If this is the duplicate, you should close this down.

Hi Robert,

I have taken a look, we will escalate this to HMRC to investigate and will update you once they have resolved this issue.

Hi Tommy,

It has been a week now since logging in and I get the same message when I try to finalise tax position. It has worked for one account but not the other.

Please let me know what you would suggest.

Hi Robert,

In this case, you will need to give a hour after saving the periods of account then refresh the tax calculation again. HMRC's systems can sometimes take a while to update after new information is submitted to them.

If it still doesn't update after an hour, please let us know and we can escalate this to HMRC.

Hi Geert,

Did this work for you?

I have followed the steps Tommy suggests and received the message that the information has been submitted but on the dashboard after refreshing the same issue message appears
