Stripe integration and dual Receipts

Question asked by Malay Hirani 2 months ago

We have integrated Stripe and are now seeing two receipt entries:

  1. One entry is automatically imported from Stripe.
  2. The second entry is the payment received into our bank account from Stripe after their fees have been deducted.

Could you please confirm whether we can simply explain the bank receipt entry and allocate it to the invoice?

If so, can we then delete the duplicate entry that was imported from Stripe (via the Clear Books Stripe integration)?

Hi Malay,

These are two separate transactions. The payment from Stripe into your bank account is not the payment from your customer, it's a payout from Stripe. This is usually explained as a transfer from the Stripe account into your Business account.

Hello Tommy,

So if the money coming from Strip to Bank account is considered as transfer and Stripe payment is allocated to invoice, we are seeing a positive balance in the Stripe, which should be zero. How to explain that?

Example our Customer pays stripe $100, stripe send $95 to our bank account (after fees), which we explained as ( Transfer from Stripe) Clearbook fetches stripe transaction as $100 which we allocated to Customer's $100 invoice. Now Stripe Account balance in CB is showing $5. And actual Stripe as zero balance.

Hi Malay,

When logged in, could you click the ? icon at the top right, then click Send us a Message and include an example transaction including the date and amount so we can investigate further please?

Hi Malay,

I have taken another look, it appears the remaining positive balance in your Stripe bank account is Stripe's bill for their invoicing product. Stripe do not send this through as a transaction fee, instead, they just silently deduct it from the payout into the bank account. As they do not charge this as part of the transaction fee, the system cannot account for it automatically unfortunately. You should be able to find your Stripe invoice in your Stripe account under Settings -> Plans and fees.

In this case, you must head to Money > Bank accounts > Click on the Stripe account > Click Money Out > Fill in the amount > Explain money out.
